Origami Koi

23 July 2011

I am fascinated by all the different ways to create origami fish, particularly koi. Michael LaFosse offers his own koi fish diagram in Advanced Origami: An Artist’s Guide to Performances in Paper. The best (and intended) way to view this creation is from the top of the fish, as if you were looking down into a pond. I hope to create a shadowbox with origami koi swimming in a pond.

I used 12-inch handmade paper to create LaFosse’s koi. The “eyes” are rose petals that are part of the paper.
